I Shall Not Be Moved

We recently built this tree as a donation to the Louisiana Childrens Museum's Festival of Trees. Preservation Hall generously sponsored a tree to be auctioned off and asked us to make one that incorporated original Hall photographs, sheet music, and other vintage ephemera.

We built the structure out of found wood-mostly driftwood that washes ashore from the Mississippi River. The body of the tree is paper mache and layers of the Preservation Hall imagery. The entire tree had small lights embedded in it attached to a dimmer switch so that you could adjust the brightness. Unfortunately, I didn't get a shot of it lit up but it really glowed beautifully.
